JCAA Arbitration Days (November 20 - 22, 2024)
This year’s three-day seminar will bring together leading experts to explore Japan’s evolving role in international arbitration, with a particular focus on the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA) and global collaboration.
Day 1 – Nov the 20th - (Global Visions: Japan’s Evolving Role in International Arbitration) will examine how international arbitration trends have influenced Japan’s legal framework and practices, the impact of cultural and personal experiences on arbitration in Japan, and JCAA’s strategic positioning as a key player in the global arbitration landscape. Featuring participation from distinguished arbitrators on the JCAA Advisory Board, both in-person and online, this session offers an excellent opportunity to gain insights into significant global arbitration trends.
A networking reception will be held on the evening of Day 1, free for seminar attendees. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.
Day 2 – Nov the 21st - (Flexible Harmonization: Cooperation Towards Best Practices) will continue with discussions aimed at enhancing the user experience in arbitration through collaboration between arbitrators and institutions. Experts will explore approaches to fostering global best practices among arbitral institutions in Asia and delve into the challenges of and approach to regional enforcement. Additionally, they will address the practical applications and ethical considerations of AI in arbitration. General counsel and seasoned practitioners will also share best practices for managing crises and disputes.
Day 3 – Nov the 22nd - (Global Business Development and Dispute Risk: The Japanese Perspective) will be conducted exclusively in Japanese. The focus will shift to the current state of global business development for Japan-based companies including government and agency support measures, and the dispute risks associated with overseas business and transactions.
The event will take place at the Tsunamachi Mitsui Club, where participants can enjoy the authentic Japanese garden during breaks.
The seminar will feature a diverse range of speakers representing government officials, legal professionals, members of the business community, and experts from ADR institutions, predominantly focusing on arbitration and mediation. This comprehensive lineup will provide valuable insights into the evolving landscape of international arbitration and dispute resolution practices.
